Felling of Small Trees
A separate examination fee will be required on completion of the training course (£170 no VAT)

Course Description: | A 3 day course covering the felling and processing of hardwood or softwood trees up to 15 inches in diameter. |
Suitable For: | This course is for novice operators with little or no experience of chainsaw use, who are required to operate chainsaws for felling trees with a diameter at felling height of between 8″ and 15″. This course prepares the candidates to take an assessment for NPTC CS 31. |
Pre-Requisites: | Candidates for this course must hold CS 30. |
Duration/Format: | 3 days felling on site, assessment on a 4th day. |
Times: | 9.00am to 5.00pm daily |
Learning Outcomes: | Identify the risk assessment and Emergency procedures on a work site Select and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling. Fell small trees safely and accurately using an appropriate method Fell leaning trees using a safe technique Remove branches safely in a manner appropriate to the branching habit Crosscut stems accurately and safely to a given length and diameter Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques Take down small hung up trees safely using appropriate hand tools |
Equipment Needs: | A waterproof coat and over-trousers (course will continue even in rain). If the candidate has protective clothing then this should be brought with them along with a chainsaw of no more than 15 inch guide bar length. If not, this and all other equipment may be provided |

Notes: | During the three days on the felling site you will need to bring your own lunch. Hot drinks will be provided for the duration of the course free of charge. |
