Course Description: | A 4 day course designed to teach candidates how to carry out reduction and thinning operations and other tree maintenance tasks whilst in the crown of the tree. |
Suitable For: | A course designed for candidates who are required to carry out pruning operations within the crown of a tree to industry acceptable standards. |
Pre-Requisites: | CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39 |

Times: | 9.00am to 5.00pm daily |
Learning Outcomes: | Risk Assessment and Legislation. Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves and others Identify environmental factors that may be present. Undertake hazard assessment of tree to be worked upon. Access tree and movement around tree. Work positioning techniques whilst operating Chainsaw and other pruning tools. Demonstrate knowledge of pruning operations Carry out appropriate cutting techniques using chainsaw and other pruning tools. |
Equipment Needs: | Candidates will need to bring one passport sized photograph, a waterproof coat and over-trousers ( course will continue even in rain). Candidates should bring chainsaw PPE, a full climbing kit, a top handled saw, a hand saw with scabbard. Any equipment shortfalls will be provided. |
