| Learning Outcomes: | Be able to carry out a Hazard and Risk assessment relevant to the site, task and machine including emergency procedures and PPE.Be familiar with the machine being used including identification of decals, safety features and maintenance tasks.Be aware of various cutting mechanisms available and the procedure of changing cutting mechanism on machine being used.

| Equipment Needs: | Waterproof coat, Steel toecap workboots as minimum. Safety helmet with ear and eye protection. Helmet can be provided if not available. |

This is an Independently Assessed qualification.
Type of Learner: The qualification is aimed at those who use wood chippers as part of their work, either in horticulture, arboriculture or forestry.
Qualification Overview: This covers the use of of manually fed wood chippers, (including tracked chippers), covering pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments, operating the machine to chip material appropriate to the capacity of the machine, and hitching and unhitching of the machine.
What you need to do: Complete a practical test with one to one verbal questioning.
