Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting

Course Code:  CS 30
Course Description: A 2 day course covering the maintenance of chainsaws and the crosscutting of hardwood or softwood stems up to 15 inches in diameter.
Suitable For: This course is for novice operators with little or no experience of chainsaw use, who are required to maintain and operate chainsaws for cross cutting only. This course does not include tree felling. This course prepares the candidates to take an assessment for NPTC Units CS 30.1 & CS 30.2
Pre-Requisites:  None required

Duration/Format:

One  days maintenance in the workshop and one day crosscutting out on site, assessment if required will be on a 3rd day.
Times: 9.00am to 5.00pm daily
Learning Outcomes: Understand operator safety during chainsaw maintenance.Be able to carry out routine and periodic maintenance to a chainsaw.Be able to start and check a chainsaw.

 

Understand operator safety during chainsaw use.

Be able to safely crosscut timber that is less than guidebar length in diameter.

Stack crosscut timber.

Equipment Needs: A waterproof coat and over-trousers (course will continue even in rain). If the candidate has chainsaw protective clothing then this should be brought with them along with a chainsaw with a guide bar of 15 inches maximum. If not, this and all other equipment can be provided.

Training £240.00 + VAT. Assessment £170.00 zero vat (Includes NPTC registration)

Notes: During the two days, you will need to bring your own lunch. Hot drinks will be provided for the duration of the course free of charge.
